Packaging That Accompanies the Product, Why the Envelope Shouldn't Eclipse What It Protects
There's a common temptation in premium packaging design, turning the packaging into the absolute protagonist, above the product it contains. At ABZAC Generation we believe the opposite. Packaging has to stand at the same level as the product, accompany it, complete it, never replace it as the sales argument. This apparently simple idea guides every cylindrical cardboard tube we design.
- The "packaging as protagonist" mistake
When packaging competes for attention with the product, something is off, the customer remembers the box, not what's inside. In sectors like gastronomy, wine or cosmetics, where the product is the result of craftsmanship or years of work, packaging that overpowers can even undermine the credibility of what's inside.
- Accompany, don't compete, the philosophy behind every tube
Good tube packaging doesn't shout, it communicates. Its job is to prepare the customer for what they'll find inside, the terroir of an oil, the character of a wine, the craftsmanship of a cosmetic. The design, colour, texture, finish, typography, is always thought through in relation to the product, never the other way round.
- How the cylindrical tube achieves this balance
The circular shape of the cardboard tube allows for a continuous design, with no cuts or corners, that wraps the product the way a well thought out label would, with intention, without overloading it. The finish, matte, kraft, engraved, metallic, and the closure, lid, cork, magnet, are chosen piece by piece with the brand, so the packaging finishes telling the story the product already has.
- The result, a more complete product, not a more disguised one
When packaging accompanies rather than imposes itself, something important happens, the customer perceives the product as more complete, not more dressed up. The packaging becomes a coherent preview of what's to come, and that builds trust even before the first taste.
This is the philosophy behind every project we work on at ABZAC Generation, whether it's a wine, a premium olive oil or a cosmetics line. If you want your product to have the packaging it truly deserves, tell us about your project through the contact form.
